A project that I’d love to revisit, Greetings is a reflection on how Chinese families don’t really “do greeting cards”. Growing up in Canada and making cards and crafts during day school for the holidays, they were always thrown soon after arriving in the house. Alternatively, red envelopes tend to float around much longer as they remain useful even after they’ve been given. As such, I’ve made this drawing in the same dimensions as a dollar bill to fit in a red envelope and pass along with the customary gift of money. It’s small and simple, easily kept around but also guilt free to throw away with the clutter.

Currently hanging in Markham District High School, Mapping Markham was a community colouring page that I was nominated to design while I was a student there. It’s a loose, geographic interpretation of the City of Markham with select institutions and monuments represented. Across the centre, images of the old and new high school buildings are drawn projecting out from the letters “MDHS” in the centre. I had a cringe-worthy fascination with graffiti art, but this is still a cool thing.
