artist statement

As a third generation settler in Canada, Liz often ruminates on the idea of what it means to be home. More than just a place of origin, but a feeling of belonging. Throughout her practice, Liz works through her ethnic and cultural identity, deciding how much of it to share through her creative practices, and produce subtle nods to the ideas that demonstrate how she inhabits these characteristics. Building a sense of community into her practice is grounding, both as an author and a maker.
